We are focused on improving education and the Volunteer Ministers offer a study program teaching a technology of how to study. Drugs are a growing problem here and the Volunteer Ministers have answers to helping people come off drugs. This group has the message which says: No matter how big the problem may seem, something CAN be done about it."

The Minister of Youth and Sports was the next person to speak at the opening event, he let those people their know that his intentions are to take full advantage of the Scientology Disaster Response Training and is looking forward to getting the Volunteer Ministers help in tackling the social ills of Fiji.

And as the opening celebration concluded, the work ahead for the Scientology Volunteer Ministers had just begun. Nurses visited the pavilion and were trained to deliver Scientology Assists, hundreds of other people were toured through and and listened to lectures based on the Scientology Handbook by L. Ron Hubbard.

Fiji is the 2nd stop on the South Pacific Tour, which was officially launched on 15 July with a Grand Opening held in Auckland, New Zealand, attended by dignitaries from the Maori and South Pacific Communities in New Zealand.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers from the South Pacific Goodwill Tour were welcomed to Fiji by traditional dancers and more than 200 dignitaries.

Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.
